U.K. gross mortgage lending increased by 8 percent month-on-month to GBP 12.7 billion in July, the Council of Mortgage Lenders said Monday. From a year ago, gross lending gained 2 percent.
"Interpretation of recent trends continues to be challenged by one-off effects," says CML market and data analyst Caroline Purdey.
"We look forward to the September figures when the distorting effects of the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics should largely have worked their way through," Purdey added.
