8/20/2012 8:25 AM ET

Poland's producer price inflation weakened more than economists expected in July, data released by the statistical office showed Monday.

The producer price index increased 3.7 percent on an annual basis in July, after rising 4.4 percent in June. Economists were looking for a 3.8 percent gain.

Prices in the manufacturing sector advanced 3.8 percent annually during the month, while mining and quarrying prices decreased 2.7 percent. Output prices of electricity, gas, steam and hot water were higher by 6.3 percent compared to last year.

On a monthly basis, output prices decreased 0.2 percent in July, slower than the previous month's 0.5 percent fall. Economists expected the monthly rate of fall to remain unchanged, data showed.
