Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (CY: Quote) Monday extended the offer to acquire chipmaker Ramtron International Corp. (RMTR: Quote) for $2.68 per share to 5.00 pm New York City time, on August 24, 2012.

The offer, which represents a 48 percent premium to Ramtron's closing stock price on June 11, was previously scheduled to expire on last Friday.

Cypress said it continues to believe that the offer represents full and fair value and provides Ramtron's stockholders with immediate liquidity at a substantial premium in a very volatile market.

The report said durable goods orders surged up by 3.3 percent in April after tumbling by a revised 5.9 percent in March.

Mailbox Now Comes To IPad

The popular e-mail management app Mailbox, developed by Orchestra Inc., has been updated to be compatible with Apple's iPad. Orchestra disclosed the news of the update through its official blog. "You asked, we listened. Mailbox is now available for iPad, so you can swipe your way to inbox zero on all your iOS devices," Orchestra's brief blog read.
