Willie Nelson cancelled a fundraising gig in Castle Pines, Colorado over the weekend (August 18), due to health issues.
"I was told Willie woke up and had trouble breathing, so he was taken to the hospital," Fred Bartlit, who was hosting the fund-raiser called Lulu's Barkin' BBQ told the Denver Post.
The private event was a benefit for the Dumb Friends League, an organization that provides care and shelter to Denver-area animals.
KUSA-TV reported that organizers told the audience Nelson was suffering "from breathing problems due to the high altitude and emphysema" and was taken to a nearby hospital.
On Monday, however, a rep for the 79-year-old country singer said that Nelson was not hospitalized and that he will be available for his next gig (August 21), a show at Dallas' House of Blues.
