Soundgarden have confirmed that their new album is set for release on November 13. It will be the first new studio release from the band since 1996's Down on the Upside and includes tracks titled "Blood on the Valley Floor" and "A Thousand Days Before."

Speaking with Rolling Stone, guitarist Kim Thayil says that it should appeal to their core fans:

"It re-establishes that we still rock, we're still heavy, and we're still a little weird."

He adds that they continue to explore the boundaries of hard rock, especially on "A Thousand Days Before," which he called "a little Indian thing and some chicken-pickin.' We call it 'country and eastern.'"

The band also made recent headlines by contributing a track called "Live to Rise" to the soundtrack of the film The Avengers.
