Statistics Canada's wholesale trade came in less than expected in June, falling to 0.1 percent in the month following a 0.9 percent increase in May. Analysts had predicted a 0.3 percent growth.
The Canadian dollar drifted lower against its major rivals after the report. As of 8:32 am ET, the loonie was trading at 1.2268 against the euro, 80.62 versus the yen and 0.9860 against the US dollar.
