Green Day has been confirmed for an appearance at the upcoming MTV Music Awards. The event is set to take place on September 6 and will be hosted this year by comedian Kevin Hart.

The pop-punk icons will support their upcoming trio of albums ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! at the show. The first of which is set for release just days after the VMA's on September 15. The next two releases are due out November 13, and January 15, respectively.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Billie Joe Armstrong explained how the band is changing things up with the album set.

"We're changing the guitar sound," he said. "We're not going with the big Marshall amp thing. We wanted something punchier, more power pop . . . If you listen to it, it feels grand. But it also feels like a garage band."
