Michael J. Fox is returning to NBC on a currently untitled, one-camera sitcom in the fall of 2013. The actor, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, starred on NBC's "Family Ties" from 1982 to 1989.

"To bring Michael J. Fox back to NBC is a supreme honour, and we are thrilled that one of the great comedic television stars is coming home again," said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment.

In 2000, Fox left his show, "Spin City," which ran for four years on ABC, in order to focus on finding a cure for the debilitating disorder.

He established the Michael J. Fox Foundation dedicated to raising awareness and funds for research. Earlier this summer, speaking with ABC, he said that he is able to manage his Parkinson's through a medicinal regimen.

"I'm extremely pleased to be back at NBC with a great creative team and a great show," he said in a statement.
