Taiwan Unemployment Rate Rises For Third Month

Unemployment rate in Taiwan rose for a third consecutive month in July, data from the Director-General of Budget Accounting and Statistics showed Wednesday.

The jobless rate rose to 4.31 percent in July from 4.21 percent in June. The seasonally adjusted jobless rate, meanwhile, remained almost steady at 4.25 percent compared to 4.24 percent in June.

On an unadjusted basis, the number of unemployed persons rose to 490,000 in July from 477,000 in the previous month.

Employment also increased slightly to 10.88 million from 10.85 million a month ago. Labor force participation rate in July was 58.49 percent, up from 58.32 percent in June.
