Lithuania Industrial Output Growth Quickens In July

Lithuania's industrial production increased at a faster rate in July, data released by the Department of Statistics showed Wednesday.

Industrial production, on an unadjusted basis, increased 6.2 percent on an annual basis in July, notably faster than the 0.5 percent gain recorded in June. In May, production had recorded a 14.4 percent decrease.

Production in the manufacturing sector rose 7.2 percent annually during the month, while mining and quarrying production dropped 7.1 percent. Output of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning was lower by 5.5 percent compared to last year.

On a monthly basis, industrial output edged up 0.1 percent in July, after climbing 21.4 percent in the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted basis, output rose 4.4 percent month-on-month, the agency said.
