Kevin Costner is reportedly set to appear in the upcoming Jack Ryan series reboot from director Kenneth Branagh. According to a new report from firstshowing.net, Costner will appear in a supporting role as a CIA mentor to Ryan, who will be played by Chris Pine.
Rumors are swirling that Costner may also sign on for a spin-off film in the franchise that will focus on the fellow Tom Clancy character John Kelly. That film, titled "Without Remorse," will feature the same mentor character. Tom Hardy is reportedly in talks for the lead role in that film.
Costner's character for both films is named William Harper and he is described by producers as a "true blue American idealist who recruits and mentors both Ryan and John Kelly, the latter of whom becomes the CIA operative Clark by the end of Without Remorse."
