Dick Van Dyke has been selected to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actor's Guild. The television legend will receive the award at the upcoming 19th Screen Actor's Guild Awards on January 27.
SAG President Ken Howard broke the news earlier this week saying Van Dyke is the embodiment of what the Guild stands for:
"Dick is the consummate entertainer—an enormously talented performer whose work has crossed nearly every major category of entertainment," Howard in a statement. "From his career-changing Broadway turn in Bye Bye Birdie and his deadpan humor in the Emmy-winning Dick Van Dyke Show, to his unforgettable performance as Bert in Mary Poppins, he sets a high bar for actors."
Last year Van Dyke presented the same award to his former "Dick Van Dyke Show" co-star Mary Tyler Moore.
