The U.S. factory orders for July and the University of Michigan's final consumer confidence survey results for August are due at 9:55 am ET and 10:00 am ET Friday, respectively. Ahead of these reports, the greenback showed mixed trading against other major currencies. While the dollar has come off slightly from an early low against the pound, it held steady against the rest of major currencies.
At 9:50 am ET, the greenback was worth 78.39 against the yen, 0.9525 against the franc, 1.2610 against the euro and 1.5856 against the pound.
