Randy Jackson's days as a judge on "American Idol" are officially over. TMZ has learned that Jackson is leaving the judges table of "Idol" but will still remain a part of the show as a "mentor."
According to some sources connected to "Idol" there's some concern that Jackson is not well-suited for the mentor role, but many feel that they need him because he's the glue that helps keep the show together.
Sources have said that a deal with Nicki Minaj to become Jackson's replacement is about 99% done, but nothing is definite yet.
Rumors have spread that the honchos of "Idol" know that Mariah Carey is not a huge fan of Minaj, and that she doesn't want her at the judges table with her. However the producers feel that the tension and conflict could be good for the show.
