Dr. Dre Is Highest Paid Music Artist On Forbes List

Dr. Dre is the highest paid music celebrity earning $110 million from May 2011 to May 2012, according to Forbes. Dre out earned the next name on the list, Simon Cowell, by a cool $20 million.

"In August handset maker HTC paid $300 million for a 51% stake in Beats by Dr. Dre, the headphone company he co-founded with Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine in 2006. Each owned about a third of the company, pocketing about $100 million apiece, before taxes, from last summer's deal," according to the magazine.

Third on the list was Elton John ($80 million) and fourth was Britney Spears ($58).

Dre is currently at work on his much-anticipated album, Detox. So far, two singles have been released from the effort: "Kush" and "I Need a Doctor" (featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey).
