When Steven Tyler chose to become a judge on American Idol, his fellow band members from Aerosmith had to make a decision to either work around Tyler's new schedule, wait for him to be done with the show or look for a new lead singer.
Guitarist Brad Whitford has revealed that the band did strongly consider replacing Tyler, and although the band realized replacing Tyler would be too difficult, they did have a few people who were interested in the job, like Sammy Hagar.
"Well, we spoke to Sammy, and he was really excited about it," Whitford said. "I love Sammy, and I was like, 'Oh man this would be so cool!' (But) it all started to come back together on its own, like it was going to and should have."
