Miley Cyrus has released a cover of James Shelton's 1950s tune "Lilac Wine" as part of her "Backyard Sessions," which took place earlier this summer.
The "Backyard Sessions" saw Cyrus get her band - Stacy Jones (drums), Mike Schmid (piano), Jamie Arentzen (guitar), Jaco Curaco (guitar), and Vashon Johnson (bass) - together to perform her favorite songs.
The video for "Lilac Wine" also featured Paul Hager (sound engineer) and was filmed and edited by Kevin & Rebecca Joelson.
"Lilac Wine" was first introduced by Hope Foye in the short-lived theater musical revue Dance Me a Song, and has also been covered in the past by the likes of Eartha Kitt, Nina Simone, Jeff Buckley and Jeff Beck. The only artist to have major chart success with the song was Elkie Brooks in 1978.
