Denmark's annual inflation accelerated in August, data released by the National Statistics Office showed Monday.
The consumer price index increased 2.6 percent on an annual basis in August, after growing 2.3 percent in July.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 4.8 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices decreases 0.8 percent. Costs of furnishing and household equipment were higher by 1.4 percent compared to last year, and transportation costs by 3.2 percent, data showed.
Compared to July, consumer prices moved up 0.3 percent in August, the agency said.
At the same time, the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), measured under the EU methodology, rose at a faster rate of 2.6 percent in August than 2.1 percent in July. Sequentially, the HICP rose 0.4 percent.
