Jerry Lawler, professional wrestling commentator, collapsed during a WWE event on Monday (September 10). According to the wrestling organization, Lawler suffered a heart attack behind the announcer's desk and was taken to a local hospital.
Arda Ocal, a Canadian broadcaster, hit Twitter with news of the event, assuring fans that the collapse did not appear to be staged:
"Something is going on with Jerry Lawler right now at the commentary table . . . It looks like he collapsed. Not part of show."
"Jerry 'The King' Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night's broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal," the WWE later said in its statement. "We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family."
