A 34-year-old Saudi national has been sentenced to 2,000 lashes and eight years in jail for blackmailing 13 women.
The district court in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah also ordered the unnamed blackmailer to pay a fine of SR 300,000 ($80,000), the Arab News reported.
The accused used personal pictures of the victims to get paid SR 1,500 ($400) monthly from each of them, and threatened to publish the photos if they refused to pay.
The judge said it was the defendant's wife who reported him to the police after she found that he took her colleagues' numbers from her cell phone and saved them under company names on his cell phone.
The defendant managed to involve his victims in affairs with him until he took intimate pictures of them for blackmailing.
