Sprint Nextel Corp. (S: Quote) announced that it will offer iPhone 5 on the Sprint network beginning on Friday, September 21. The company said that the New and existing customers can pre-order iPhone 5 beginning at 12:01am PT on Friday, September 14 at its website.
The company said that iPhone 5 requires activation on one of the Sprint Everything Data plans starting at $79.99 with Unlimiteddata, text and calling to any mobile.
Sprint 4G LTE is now available in 19 cities including Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Waco, Texas. Major metropolitan areas in which Sprint 4G LTE is expected to be available in the coming months include Boston; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; Memphis, Tenn.; Miami; Nashville, Tenn.; New Orleans; New York; Philadelphia; and Washington, D.C.
By the end of 2013, Sprint expects to have largely completed the nationwide build out of its all-new 3G and 4G network, a program known as Network Vision.
Earlier today, Apple Inc. (AAPL: Quote) unveiled iPhone 5 at an event in San Francisco. iPhone 5 has 4-inch display and is powered by A6 processor. The new iPhone comes with iOS 6, the new mobile operating system, and also supports the faster 4G LTE networks.
Apple said that iPhone 5 comes in either white & silver or black & slate, and will be available in the US for a suggested retail price of $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model, and $399 for the 64GB model.
