Complaints have surfaced that Bob Dylan plagiarized material from Junichi Saga's 1991 book Confessions of a Yakuza and the 19th century poetry of Henry Timrod.
Dylan's 2006 album, Modern Times, detractors say, swipes unaccredited passages from Timrod, while his 2001 LP, Love and Theft, does the same with Saga.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, Dylan called those who made the claims "wussies and p*ssies," noting of Timrod in particular, ". . . have you ever heard of him? Who's been reading him lately?"
Dylan added that he's learned to tune out such abuse after a career of it:
"These are the same people that tried to pin the name Judas on me," he said. "Judas, the most hated name in human history! If you think you've been called a bad name, try to work your way out from under that. And for what? For playing an electric guitar?"
