Iceland's Unemployment Stable In August

9/14/2012 8:43 AM ET

Iceland's unemployment remained broadly unchanged in August, data released by the Directorate of Labor showed Friday.

The unemployment rate came in at 4.8 percent in August, marginally higher than 4.7 percent recorded in July, and unchanged from June. In August 2011, the unemployment rate was 6.7 percent.

The slight decline in the jobless rate mainly reflected seasonal fluctuations in the labor force, the agency said.

The number of unemployed persons in the country, meanwhile, decreased to around 8,200 in August from 8,372 in June.
