Canon has unveiled the latest addition to their growing PowerShot series, the 50x optical zoom PowerShot SX50 HS. The new camera offers what Canon is calling their "extreme telephoto" 24-1200mm, f/3.4 - f/6.5 lens.
The PowerShot SX50 HS will step in for the SX40 HS and like the previous camera will offer a hot shoe mount and a 12.1-megapixel sensor. New features will include digital image stabilization of up to 100x as well as Zoom Framing Assist and Lock features.
The SX50 HS will hit retail shelves next month and will start around $730. Other technical specs on the camera include a max ISO rating at 6,400, a 7.1 cm vari-angle LCD, 10fps burst mode, and a mix of auto and manual controls including Smart Auto and Multi-area White Balance.
