Keith Urban has decided to join the cast of judges for the upcoming season of American Idol. The country star will be joined by newcomers Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. Veteran judge Randy Jackson will also be in the mix of judges.
"American Idol's star power has never been so great," executive producer Simon Fuller said.
Fox executive Mike Darnell also said that the network was "thrilled" about the panel: "Nicki's an unbelievably captivating international phenomenon who has made an indelible mark on rap and pop . . . [And] I know that our fans and contestants will fall in love with [Keith]."
According to various reports Urban is scheduled to make $6 million for his role on Idol.
