The U.K. annual inflation fell to 2.5 percent in August from 2.6 percent recorded in the previous month and in line with expectations.
The pound held steady against its major rivals after the report. As of 4:32 am ET, the U.K. currency was trading at 0.8062 against the euro, 1.6240 against the dollar, 1.5040 against the Swiss franc and 127.78 against the yen.
