Paris Hilton has apologized for calling gay men "disgusting" and suggesting that they all "probably had AIDS." The LBGT community was quick to hit back after the remarks, prompting a public 180 from Paris:
"I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families," Hilton said in the apology she released to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). "Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know."
The recording of Paris was made in the back of a taxi cab where her male model friend was describing to her the cruising iPhone app Grindr. The recording was posted to the web shortly thereafter.
Paris' publicist said that Paris was expressing her concern for the dangers of unprotected sex.
