Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. (PTEN: Quote) announced Friday that its board has appointed William Andrew Hendricks, Jr. as Chief Executive Officer effective October 1, 2012, elevating him from his current position of Chief Operating Officer. He will replace Douglas Wall, who is retiring as Chief Executive Officer on September 30, 2012.

Additionally, the company announced that Michael Conlon has been appointed to the Board of Directors.

The poll showed that 54 percent of Americans are following the news that the IRS targeted conservative groups for greater scrutiny "very" or "somewhat" closely.
