Arcade Fire has signed on to appear at a benefit concert for the family of Denis Blanchette, a stage lighting technician who was shot and killed earlier this month. Blanchette was murdered at a victory party celebrating the election of separatist Parti Québécois to the Quebec government.
A gunman named Richard Henry Bain opened fire at the speech from the newly elected premier-designate of the province Pauline Marois. The band, along with Quebec-born singer Celine Dion quickly signed on to appear at the concert, which will take place on October 1 at Metropolis in Montreal.
Tickets for the event will sell through Ticketmaster and will cost between $80 and $175. Other top Quebec-based acts on the bill will include Patrick Watson, Coeur De Pirate, Ian Kelly and Vincent Vallières.
