The beef between American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj is manufactured by the show's producers, at least according to former judge Steven Tyler.
While speaking with TMZ.com, the Aerosmith rocker admitted that the controversy is likely contrived for the benefit of the show.
The site caught up with Tyler while he was leaving a Los Angeles restaurant over the weekend and asked him if the feud was "b*llsh*t." He wasted no time in replying, "Of course. Are you kidding?"
Rumors have swirled that the pop divas were likely to butt heads on the show - a prediction which proved correct when the pair squared off over a contestant's performance.
Carey opened up to Barbara Walters about the incident, who later dished on The View:
"She said that when Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say, 'If I had a gun I would shoot the b---h'."
