Micro Labs Launches Chewable Drug For Low Blood Sugar

The Bengaluru-based anti-diabetes care pharma company Micro Labs Ltd. on Thursday announced the launching of a drug for managing low blood sugar (hypoglycaemic) under the brand name 'Hypotab', reports said.

The company said the dextrose drug formulation is targeted at type 2 diabetes patients, who encounter hypoglycaemia and patients with type 1 diabetes on insulin more prone to develop it.

Senior Vice-President - Marketing & Sales, said Dextrose was the simple form of carbohydrate for rapid restoration of normal blood glucose levels.

Micro Labs has 13 oral formulation plants and four overseas offices. It has made use of "ABMAX technology" for the manufacture of Hypotab which, the company said, offers 20 micron particle size for faster absorption and quick results.

"Hypotab is the first standardized therapy for hypoglycaemia and comes in 4s packing (four chewable tablets of four gms each per strip priced at Rs seven) which is easy to carry in the pocket," he added.
