Oil services provider Baker Hughes Inc. (BHI: Quote) is expected to report results for the third quarter. The company is expected to earn $0.84 per share on revenues of $5.44 billion. In the year-ago quarter, the company reported earnings of $1.18 per share on revenues of $5.18 billion. The shares closed Thursday at $47.10. (The stock dropped almost 2% in Q3; MA(50)- $46.48; MA(100)- $44.21; 52-wk H/L $61.90/$37.08)

General Electric Co. (GE: Quote) is due to post third-quarter results. The company is expected to record earnings of $0.36 per share versus $0.31 per share last year, with revenues estimated at $36.89 billion. Shares of GE closed Thursday's trade at $22.81. (The stock up about 5% in Q3; MA(50)- $21.81; MA(100)- $20.85; 52-wk H/L $23.18/$14.68)

Honeywell International Inc. (HON: Quote) is slated to report results for the third quarter. The diversified manufacturing company is expected to report a profit of $1.14 per share versus $1.10 per share last year, on revenues of $9.51 billion. The stock closed Thursday at $61.42. (The stock declined nearly 8% in Q3; MA(50)- $59.85; MA(100)- $57.88; 52-wk H/L $62/$48.82)

Parker-Hannifin Corp. (PH: Quote) will report first-quarter results today. The company is expected to earn $1.73 per share, lower than $1.91 per share reported a year ago, with revenues estimated at $3.23 billion. The company's shares closed Thursday's session at $85.07. (The stock declined around 9% in Q1; MA(50)- $82.66; MA(100)- $80.36; 52-wk H/L $91.47/$70.42)

Hamburger chain McDonald's Corp. (MCD: Quote) is scheduled to report third-quarter results. The Oak Brook, Illinois-based company is expected to post earnings of $1.42 per share, higher than the year-ago quarter's $1.35 per share. Also, the company is anticipated to generate revenues of $7.10 billion, up from $6.91 billion generated a year ago. The company's shares closed Thursday's session at $92.86. (The stock down about 9% in Q3; MA(50)- $90.79; MA(100)- $89.99; 52-wk H/L $102.22/$85.92)

Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB: Quote) is due to report results for the third quarter. The oilfield services provider is expected to record a profit of $1.06 per share on revenues of $10.68 billion. Last year, the company earned $0.98 per share on revenues of $10.23 billion. The company's shares closed Thursday's trade at $74.80. (The stock dropped about 7% in Q3; MA(50)- $73.61; MA(100)- $70.06; 52-wk H/L $80.78/$59.12)

Additionally, Air Products & Chemicals Inc. (APD), Cooper Industries Plc (CBE), Edwards Lifesciences Corp. (EW), IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. (IDXX), Ingersoll-Rand Plc (IR) and Kansas City Southern (KSU) will post their results today.

Stocks have moved modestly lower in early trading on Wednesday, giving back some ground after closing higher in the two previous sessions. The major averages have dipped into negative territory, although selling pressure remains subdued. The major averages have edged up off their lows for the young session in the past few minutes but remain in the red.
