The most extraordinary gentleman spy in all of fiction, James Bond, will be seen using the Sony Xperia T in the latest Bond flick, Sky Fall, which is scheduled to hit theaters on November 9th. Google(GOOG), whose Android operating system is being used in the smart phone, has been more than eager in promoting the news.
Through its Android Google + account, it made the following post yesterday morning.
"Did you know James Bond uses an +Android smart phone in the latest movie, Sky Fall? Get a chance to win the new Bond Phone, Xperia T the Android powered smartphone from Sony +Sony Xperia: http://campaigns.sonymobile.com/xperiacompetition/"
In a world where product placement is everything, Sony's move to promote its range of Android phones promises to be fruitful. Sony Pictures Entertainment produces a part of the James Bond films and it is no surprise that the company is capitalizing on this opportunity to promote its product through the new film.
It should be noted that the move isn't a first by the company. Sony has been promoting its phones through the Bond franchise for a while now. Bond Girl Hale Berry was seen sporting the Sony Erricson T68 in 'Die Another Day' (2002) and Daniel Craig used Sony's phones in 'Casino Royale' (2006) and 'Quantum of Solace' (2008).
The Sony Xperia T is a 4.55-inch smart phone powered by the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The device is popular for its brilliant display, a 720x1280 screen that packs in a whopping 323 pixels per inch, making it one of the most stunning visual treats on the market. The phone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor which happens to be dual-core and is clocked at 1.5GHz.
Sony has also announced that its Sony Xperia TL will the official James Bond phone. The device comes with a 720p 4.6-inch HD display, a powerful 13-megapixel camera, rich 1080p video recording, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with an option to upgrade to Jelly Bean in the future.
Sky Fall had its London Premier on October 23rd at the Royal Albert Hall. The film has Daniel Craig in the lead playing 007 for the third time, along with Spanish actor Javier Bardem, French actress Bérénice Marlohe, British star Judi Dench and more.
