Usher kicked off the 40th annual American Music Awards with a medley of dance tunes taken from his latest album, Looking 4 Myself.
"Numb" launched the routine, which then dovetailed into "Climax," before closing with "Can't Stop, Won't Stop." But, Ush was not finished for the night as he later took home Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist, defeating Chris Brown and Trey Songz in the process.
While Usher opened the evening, it was closed by Korean rapping phenom PSY and MC Hammer. The pair teamed up for the former's viral hit "Gangnam Style" as well as the latter's 90s hit "Too Legit to Quit."
Other performers of the night included Justin Bieber, who did a stripped-down acoustic version of "As Long as You Love Me," which segued into "Beauty and the Beat"; Nicki Minaj joined the Bieb onstage for a few moments of impromptu dancing.
