One of the two jailed members of the Russian female punk band 'Pussy Riot' has sought solitary confinement following "strained relations" with her fellow inmates, Russian media reported on Friday quoting prison officials.

Maria Alyokhina, 24, one of the three Pussy Riot activists sentenced in August last for their bawdy performance in Moscow's main cathedral is serving out her two-year sentence in a penal colony in the Perm region, about 1,000 kilometer from the Russian capital.

A Moscow court convicted them on being found guilty of hurting religious sentiments by performing before the altar of the 'Christ the Saviour' cathedral, the Russian Orthodox Church's principal place of worship, ridiculing President Vladimir Putin.

A vegan, Alyokhina had earlier complained about the meat-based diet at the colony, the RIA Novosti News Agency reported. She has been in jail along with her 23-year-old colleague Nadia Tolokonnikova since her arrest in March.

The third member of the band Ekaterina Samutsevich, 30, was released after an appeal hearing on October 10.
