Baxter International Inc. (BAX: Quote) traded to the upside throughout Friday's session and ended the day higher by 2.69 at $68.81. The stock rose above a 2 1/2 week trading range and set a new high for the year.
The Wall Street Journal reported late Friday morning that Baxter is involved in talks to acquire Gambro for about $4 billion.
