Valeant To Name Ryan Weldon And Jason Hanson To Executive Management Team

Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. (VRX, VRX.TO) Wednesday said it will appoint Ryan Weldon and Jason Hanson to Valeant's Executive Management Team, effective upon the close of Valeant's acquisition of Medicis.

Weldon will be appointed as Executive Vice President/Company Group Chairman to lead the company's U.S. Dermatology operations in Arizona.

Meanwhile, Hanson will relocate to New Jersey where he will assume the role of Executive Vice President/Company Group Chairman and will lead certain U.S and international businesses and functions to be named later.

Weldon most recently served as Vice President & General Manager, Aesthetics. Weldon has also held management roles at McKinsey & Co. and Johnson & Johnson, prior to joining Valient.

Hanson joined Medicis as EVP and was later promoted to COO. Prior to joining Medicis, Hanson was General Counsel for GE Healthcare Technologies.

Upon close of acquisition, the company will also appoint Vince Ippolito as Senior Vice President, General Manager, Aesthetics and Justin Smith as Senior Vice President, General Manager U.S. Rx Dermatology. The acquisition of Medicis is currently expected to close on December 11.

Ippolito and Smith have each held various sales and marketing leadership positions at Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. (MRX). Both will be reporting to Ryan Weldon in Scottsdale, Arizona.
