Cantel Medical Corp. (CMN) reported that its first-quarter net income increased to $9.58 million, or $0.35 per share from $6.22 million, or $0.23 per share last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.28 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Sales rose to $99.68 millon from $93.26 million last year. Analysts expected revenue of $100.14 million for the quarter.
Andrew Krakauer, Cantel's President and CEO stated, "All three major business segments contributed to the favorable results. As in the past four quarters, much of our success resulted from the continued expansion of our gross margins, which improved to 43.9%."
