"Modern Family" actress Ariel Winter's mother is suing an associate of her teen daughter for defamation following a comment that appeared in a recent Los Angeles Times article. The man, Matthew Borlenghi, made comments surrounding the ongoing custody battle for Winter.
Winter's mother Chrisoula Workman has filed suit claiming that Borlenghi's comments are completely false and a mere character assassination:
"This is a total falsehood," Borlenghi said in the statement. "The mother is grasping and clawing to find a way not to lose her money-maker, and hide the fact that she is an abusive monster."
Winter has been living with an adult sister while her custody suit is ongoing. Last month judges confirmed that investigators in the case discovered signs of emotional distress in the girl.
