The surviving members of Nirvana were among the stars who helped raise money during Wednesday night's 12.12.12 Concert For Sandy Relief.
Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear and Dave Grohl teamed up with Beatles legend Paul McCartney for a new track called "Cut Me Some Slack," which will be featured in Sound City, a documentary Grohl directed.
The evening also saw a performance by Chris Martin, who sang the Coldplay tracks "Viva la Vida" and "Us Against the World." The set included a special appearance by Michael Stipe, who joined Martin on the R.E.M. classic "Losing My Religion."
Funds raised by the concert, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, will benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The storm hit the Northeastern U.S. in October, causing an estimated $65 billion in damage.
Other acts included Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Roger Waters and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
The concert was broadcast live over a number of TV networks.
The event also featured appearances by various celebrities, including Katie Holmes, Jamie Foxx, Billy Crystal, Susan Sarandon, Adam Sandler, Brian Williams, Kristen Stewart, Jon Stewart and Chelsea Clinton.
