Pre-market Movers For Dec 14 (AAPL, ADBE, SZYM, PAY, SLB, ALXA)

Gainers:

Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE) is rising over 5 percent to $37.46. The company's fourth quarter earnings improved from the year-ago quarter and were above Wall Street view. Total revenues edged up from the same period a year earlier and also topped the consensus estimate.

Solazyme Inc. (SZYM) is gaining more than 16 percent to $9.50. The company announced the successful completion of multiple initial fermentations at ADM's Clinton, Iowa facility. The company said it is utilizing ADM's existing Clinton facility in a capital-efficient expansion of its renewable oil production platform in North America. As part of that arrangement, Solazyme said it has the ability to fund certain payments with equity rather than cash.

Decliners:

Apple Inc. (AAPL) is falling over 2 percent to $518.64.

VeriFone Systems Inc. (PAY) is falling 7 percent to $30.85. The company's fourth quarter profit plunged from the year-ago quarter, while its adjusted earnings per share matched Wall Street view. Net revenue missed the consensus estimate. The company forecast first quarter adjusted earnings per share below analysts' estimate.

Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB) is down over 2 percent to $71.00. The company announced that Europe/CIS/Africa Area is experiencing continued contractual delays combined with higher than usual seasonal slowdowns in activity. The company also noted that its North America activity is weaker than anticipated on land in the US and Western Canada. The company estimates combined earnings impact to be in the range of $0.05 to $0.07 per share.

Trading halt:

Trading in shares of Alexza Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ALXA) was halted. The company announced that the CHMP of the European Medicines Agency adopted a positive opinion recommending that ADASUVE be granted European Union centralized marketing authorization.
