17 Killed In Pak Car-Bomb Explosion

At least 17 people were killed and scores injured in a car bomb explosion in a Pakistani market on the Afghan border on Monday.

An explosive-laden car went off at a bus-stop near a market in Jamrud, the main town in Khyber, killing mostly people waiting for buses. They included women and children.

Khyber, a semi-autonomous north-west tribal belt, is a safe haven for the Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked groups, and also known for infightings among Islamist militant groups.

Several vehicles and shops in the market were destroyed in the blast for which no group has claimed responsibility.
