Foxconn, a manufacturing partner of Apple, is rumored to be testing Apple televisions, sized from 46 to 55 inches. The report, published on the website Focus Taiwan, said that the "initial phase of tests" on the units were underway, but shipments would not be ready by the end of next year.
"Hon Hai, the world's largest contract electronics maker, has declined to respond to the reports, saying that it never comments on specific business deals with any single client.
However, the Hon Hai source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the initial phase of tests on the TVs has kicked off."
Previously, Apple CEO Tim Cook, speaking in an interview on NBC, said that the television manufacturing market is one of "intense interest" to the company.
Meanwhile, a survey, performed by Alphawise and Morgan Stanley, demonstrated that over half of the respondents would be interested in purchasing such a device.
The report adds that using displays in the range mentioned would give Apple the flexibility in deciding on one or more vendors to supply LCD panels for the sets.
