Hyundai is in the midst of recalling 13,500 of its Velosters because of the panoramic sunroof which may be susceptible to shattering, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
"The panoramic sunroof assembly may be weakened during installation at the factory," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem. "If the assembly was weakened at the factory, the panoramic glass panel may break while the vehicle is in motion, leading to personal injury or a vehicle crash."
In another separate recall, Hyundai is recalling 4,490 Velosters, manufactured from July 2, 2011 to February 27, 2012, because of faulty parking brake mechanisms, which may bind after getting exposed to moisture and dirt. The flaw could lead to parking brake failure.
Both the sunroofs and parking brakes may be replaced free of charge at Hyundai dealerships. Customers may contact Hyundai at 800-633-5151 for further info.
