Rock-Tenn Co. (RKT) reported first quarter adjusted EPS of $1.35 after the close Tuesday, up from $1.18 in the prior year period. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $1.27. Net sales came in at $2.287 billion, compared to the consensus revenue estimate of $2.30 billion.
Rock-Tenn spiked sharply in early trade Wednesday and took out the session highs around mid-morning. The stock ended the day higher by 5.97 at $80.03 on strong volume. Rock-Tenn surged to a new high for the year.
