Guitarist Jimmie Vaughan, founder of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and the older brother to the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, suffered a heart attack on January 23 in California. The news was revealed by the Mahindra Blues Festival out of Mumbai, India, where Vaughan was scheduled to perform, but has since had to cancel.

The Blues Festival's website reads: "Jimmie Vaughan was admitted to Pomona Hospital Medical Center on January 23, 2013 with an acute myocardial infarction (Heart Attack). He had a coronary angioplasty and stent placement. He is still in the hospital but recovering and has been advised by his cardiologist to rest at home for a month. He regretfully had to cancel a scheduled trip to the Mahindra Blues Festival in Mumbai, India as a result."

The 61-year-old bluesman has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at his Texas home. Through a statement released by Vaughan's management company to KVUE.com, Vaughan said, "I feel really good and I can't wait to get back to work with my band."
