Billy Joel says that fans should not expect him to head out on tour anytime soon or perhaps ever again. The Piano Man explains that he doesn't think his body would hold up under the stress of touring the way it used to.
"At one point I couldn't even walk and I thought, 'OK, that's it for me. I'm just too old to do this.' I had to get hip replacements in both hips," he says in the new issue of Rolling Stone.
"And now slowly but surely I'm kinda getting back to normal. I'd say I'm 85 percent. I can walk OK. I can't run like I used to."
Joel began to phase touring out of his life after experiencing pain in his hips which lead to two hip replacements in 2008. Despite his refusal to tour, Joel did recently play at the 12-12-12 concert at Madison Square Garden and is scheduled to perform at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in Louisiana in April.
