Shares of Activision Blizzard Inc. (ATVI) rose more than 5% in after hours trading after the world's largest video game publisher reported forecast-beating fourth quarter results.

LinkedIn Corp. (LNKD) shares surged more than 9% in extended hours trading after the professional networking giant reported better-than expected fourth quarter results and forecast first quarter revenue above analysts' current consensus estimate.

Shares of Microchip Technology Inc. (MCHP) gained more than 6% in late trading after the chipmaker reported third quarter results that beat analysts' estimates. The company also forecast fourth quarter revenue and earnings above analysts' current consensus estimates.

Nuance Communications, Inc. (NUAN) shares slumped more than 14% in after hours trading after the speech recognition software company reported first quarter earnings that missed analysts' estimate.

Shares of Coinstar Inc (CSTR) slipped more than 7% in extended hours trading after the operator of Redbox video rental kiosks forecast first quarter revenue and earnings significantly below analysts' current consensus estimates.

Riverbed Technology, Inc. (RVBD) shares fell more than 8% in late trading after the network performance optimization company gave a weak outlook for the first quarter.

Shares of Skullcandy, Inc. (SKUL) lost more than 5% in extended hours trading after the maker of headphones and other audio accessories said its President and Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Andrus has decided to step down from his positions to join a private investment firm. The company also said it expects 2012 adjusted earnings per share to be at the lower end of its previously guidance range of $1.00-$1.04.
