Estonia Unemployment Rate Declines In Q4

Estonia's unemployment rate declined in the fourth quarter, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Thursday.

The unemployment rate decreased to 9.3 percent in the fourth quarter from 9.7 percent in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2011, the jobless rate was 11.4 percent.

The number of unemployed persons in the country decreased by around 4,000 sequentially to about 64,000 in the fourth quarter.

At the same time, the employment rate decreased by 0.9 percentage points to 61 percent in the fourth quarter. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2011, the employment rate moved up by 1.3 percentage points.

In the whole of 2012, Estonia's annual average unemployment rate dropped to 10.2 percent from 12.5 percent in 2011, hitting the lowest level in four years, data showed.
