Orbotech Ltd. (ORBK), a diversified electronics company, Tuesday posted a loss for the fourth quarter versus a profit last year, with a fall in revenue. The company further provided revenue estimate for the coming quarter
For the period, the company posted net loss attributable to the firm of $734 thousand versus a profit of $2.54 million. The result for the quarter under review included a restructuring charge of $3.2 million. On a per share basis, loss stood at $0.02 compared with earnings of $0.06 last year.
On an adjusted basis, net income from continuing operations for the quarter was $3.9 million, or $0.09 per share. Four analysts, on average, polled by Thomson Reuters expected a loss per share of $0.08 for the quarter. Analysts estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Revenue for the period witnessed a fall at $100.3 million from $133.33 million last year.
Looking ahead, Orbotech expects that revenues for the first quarter of 2013 will be approximately $93 million - $94 million, or about $90 million under the new accounting treatment in connection with Frontline. Consensus estimate for first-quarter revenue is $96.03 million.
